March 2, 2025. Level 5 is coming soon

Level 5

I’m still working on Level 5. It’s going to be a castle! Even though Trapped Together is a survival RPG and not a medieval game, I really wanted to add a castle. After all, why wouldn’t there be a small medieval castle on the outskirts of a small European town?

But to make this happen, I had to rework the level editor once again. Up until now, all buildings had red brick walls (except for the store), but the castle needs to be stone! That means I need to add support for wall textures in the editor and ensure that Unity can properly load the selected textures.

I’ve already started working on this, and, of course, it’s taking way longer and is more complicated than I originally planned.

Characters

In Trapped Together v1.8, players now have three lives. The logical next step? When a character dies, you continue playing as a new one. At first, this will just be a different name and portrait for simplicity. But later, I’ll add starting skills—so each time you play, you’ll control a different character with unique abilities and weaknesses! I think that’s pretty cool!

Map

Levels are great, but what happens when you run out of them? 10 levels aren’t enough, but 100 repetitive ones would be boring.

Then, unexpectedly, the solution hit me: there won’t be levels anymore! Instead, there will be cities. Players can move between cities, traveling back and forth!

To make revisiting locations more interesting, I’ll add quests. A quest might be taken in one city, but to complete it, you’ll have to visit one or two more.

And, on top of that, cities fit perfectly into the concept of an online game!

Right now, Trapped Together is an offline RPG. But let me remind you, the game was originally meant to be an online cooperative survival game. I can’t wait for the offline Android version to reach a solid state so I can finally start working on the online mode!
