September 24 2022 can be considered the birthday of the TrappedTogether project. I was away from my laptop for a week and a half. And there was quite a lot of free time. In order to somehow occupy myself, I began to invent a game about zombies. I had a notebook with a pen at hand, and I started writing the code there.
OK. To be completely honest, I was in prison. I participated in anti-war demonstrations in Russia, was captured by people in helmets, and I was sentenced to 12 days of arrest. And even though there were four of us in the cell, after a couple of days, conversations and books got boring, and I needed something to occupy my brain with. The game about zombies was very helpful, and helped distract from depressive thoughts. And the thoughts were really very depressing: there was a war, mobilization began, and you are sitting locked up and do not know what is happening outside.
During the first couple of days of my arrest, I saw so many lies and hatred that I had never seen before. But there were also many helpful people. And it was very inspiring.
And I wanted to do something positive.
Not just another shooter, but a game in which people help each other defeat a common evil.
The name TrappedTogedher is inspired by the situation: four locked people in one prison cell. Almost complete isolation from the rest of the world: no laptop, no phone, not even a radio.
Everyone is in a gloomy mood, and everyone is trying to cheer up the others a little.
Yes, besides, there was no heating.
Very similar to the zombie apocalypse.
So, I took a notebook and started writing code in it.
