12 December 2024:
Version v1.7 is Out Now!
Here’s what’s new:
Unexpected Changes
I had planned to work on new levels, but then I received detailed feedback from one of TrappedTogether’s most dedicated players—Michael.
When someone spends hours in the game and takes the time to write a thoughtful list of improvements, how could I not address those issues? So instead of continuing with new content, I focused on improving the game based on Michael’s feedback.
Open Doors
When running from zombies and trying to take shelter in a house, a lot of time is wasted opening and closing doors. Open doors save precious seconds!
Of course, not all doors should stay open. To keep things balanced, 30% of doors will now be randomly open when a level loads.
Replay the Final Level
Previously, if a player completed all four levels, they couldn’t replay the last one. Instead, they’d see a message saying no new levels were available. This has now been fixed! Players can replay the last accessible level as often as they like.
Difficulty Adjustments
Many players found it nearly impossible to survive against multiple zombies.
When I first designed the game, I wanted to emphasize survival rather than combat. The goal was to encourage players to run and evade instead of engaging in all-out battles. But I understand that overly high difficulty can kill motivation.
To address this, I’ve made the game a little easier:
- The player now has more health.
- Zombies deal less damage.
Hopefully, this makes the game more enjoyable while still maintaining a challenge!
Faster Berry Consumption
Michael pointed out something very logical: eating berries should take far less time than opening a can of food. It should be quick enough to gather berries without needing to stop for long.
Now, berries can be consumed almost instantly, while canned food takes slightly longer to eat.
Smarter Zombies
Previously, zombies were hilariously easy to trap in trees. You could just stand there and watch them run in place.
Now, zombies are smarter—they can navigate around obstacles! This was a long-overdue change, and I’m happy to say their behavior has been fully revamped.
In the new version, zombies no longer instantly notice the player. You now have a small chance to slip away unnoticed if you see them before they see you.
Introducing Scores
Instead of simply counting the number of zombies killed, the game now tracks your Score. Points are earned for:
- Dealing damage.
- Eating food.
- Completing levels.
This is the first step toward adding experience points and skill upgrades for the character in future versions!
We Want Your Feedback!
Let us know what you think! Share your thoughts about what could be improved or what feels off, and we’ll do our best to address it.
A huge thank you to Michael for his feedback and suggestions!
Install the latest version and check out all the improvements!
